Would you like to know that the eye doctors that you get an appointment with are highly trained and have the highest ethical standards? Our Master eye doctors only have your best interest at heart, and that is why we don’t sell optical products (eyeglasses or contacts) to our patients. Master Eye Associates believes that your eyes are important. We aren’t willing to sacrifice your trust, ethical service and the best eye care available. Our eye doctors don’t want to be influenced on what contacts to prescribe because we can earn a higher profit selling one brand of contacts vs. another. The same goes for eyeglasses and lenses. Certain lenses bring in higher profits than others. We want to prescribe what is best for you, whether it’s medicine, contacts or eyeglasses, you can be assured that you are receiving what is best for you – not what brings the highest profit for your eye doctor. Giving you your optical prescription without any silent pressure to buy from us also gives you the freedom of choice to shop for contacts or more styles of eyeglasses and frames at your convenience and at lower prices.

Eylea is an Effective Treatment for Macular Degeneration and Costs Less than Current Similar Medicine
EYLEA™ (aflibercept) was approved in December 2011 for the treatment of neovascular (wet) macular degeneration.
Eylea (by Regeneron) works much like Lucentis and Avastin in its treatment of macular degeneration except that it is used less frequently and costs less. The recommended dose for EYLEA is 2 mg (0.05 mL) administered by injection into the vitreous of the eye every 4 weeks (monthly) for the first 3 months followed by 2 mg (0.05 mL) via injection once every 8 weeks (2 months).
Although EYLEA may be dosed as frequently as 2 mg every 4 weeks (monthly), results were no more effective using Eylea every month compared to every two months. The cost for Eyelea is approximately $1,850 (without doctor fees). The costs for Lucentis is about $1,950 without doctor fees. Therefore, Eyelea tends to be considerably less expensive than Lucentis because it not only costs less but is also used half as often. Avastin, which is not FDA approved for treatment of macular degeneration only costs $50.
Adverse Reactions to Eylea and Anti VEGF Treatments
There is a very slight risk of artery occlusion (i.e. non-fatal stroke, non-fatal heart attack, etc.) following use of all types of anti VEGF medicine for macular degeneration. The incidence of these serious consequences with EYLEA in clinical trials was 1.8% during the first year.
The most common adverse reactions occurred in 5% or more of patients and included: conjunctival hemorrhage, eye pain, cataract, vitreous detachment, vitreous floaters, and increased intraocular pressure.
Endophthalmitis (serious internal eye infection) occurred in less than 0.1% of eyes treated with Eyelea.
If you are looking for eye care, Lakeway has a great selection to choose from. Of course, sometimes having a large selection in a short driving distance can work against you since you have to narrow down your options to make a decision. Which doctor is best for you and your family? Do you even know what to look for in a provider? Well, ideally you will choose a facility with eye doctors who are qualified to provide an array of services. It is also a good idea to pick one who doesn’t work on commission and an eye doctor that doesn’t derive income from the sale of eyeglasses or contact lenses. This way, you can feel confident knowing that you are getting prescribed exactly what you need and no one is going to try to guilt you into purchasing those extra expensive frames or a certain brand of contacts that mean more income for the doctor!
Choosing Eye Care in Lakeway
When searching for eye care in Lakeway, Master Eye Associates is a recommended option. Dr. J.R. Lacey and Dr. Brianne Neal are both therapeutic optometrists, optometric glaucoma specialists and can also handle your refractive surgery needs. They even guarantee the accuracy of your prescription! So, if you are not comfortable with your new contacts or glasses, bring them back within 90 days and they will reevaluate your eyes for free.
Rest assured, the doctors at Master Eye Associates derive no income from the sale of glasses or contacts. You will be prescribed what is best for you. Period!
Although most people may think that eye doctors do nothing but deal with appointments of people needing glasses and contacts, they actually do a whole lot more. Even general eye evaluations entail examining the health of the eye and looking for any potential concerns. Take for example, someone needing contacts for the first time; in addition to the evaluation, the doctor will need to provide additional services. This can include training on how to insert and remove contacts and providing general care information as well as diagnosing and solving any fit problems. They also need to know which type of contacts would be best for their patient as there are many varieties, including toric, multifocal, soft disposable, keratoconus, rigid gas permeable, monovision and irregular-shaped lenses for individuals with corneas that have suffered disease or surgery.
Other Things Eye Doctors Check For
Although all eye doctors don’t provide every specialty service, you can rest assured that those at Master Eye Associates handle a broad range of concerns and procedures. Refractive surgery management is available and they are qualified to diagnose and treat glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye syndrome, nutritional counseling, visual field defects, pink eye, diabetes eye exams, muscle imbalance testing, blepharitis, keratoconus, disorders of the vitreous, pellucid marginal degeneration, macular degeneration, corneal disease and uveitis.
What do you do if you are not comfortable with the product that has been prescribed to you by your Texan eye care provider? If you think that prescriptions are always accurate, think again! There are never guarantees with health care; the options that you could have been selecting in your exam may not feel good to your eyes when you are wearing your glasses or contacts all day. There could have been a missed measurement when the optical store sold you the glasses. So, how will your current optometrist react to this news? Will they happily re-evaluate your prescription and take care of the problem for you?
A Different Type of Texan Eye Care
Unfortunately, most eye doctors are rarely thrilled over the idea of helping you with this type of problem. Master Eye Associates offers a different type of Texan eye care. They understand that sometimes you simply can’t adjust to your new prescriptions so all you need to do is come back with your new contacts or glasses within 90 days and they will make sure that you are comfortable with your new product at no additional charge. Your prescription is guaranteed! Master Eye Associates believes it is a privilege to care for you!
If you are searching for eye physicians of Austin, you likely already know that there are a lot to choose from. So, how do you know which one you should go to? If you are like most others, you probably assume that all eye doctors and facilities provide the same quality service; this is not the case. Not only do services vary, but prices do too.
Eye Physicians of Austin – Choosing the Right One
Although there are many eye physicians of Austin, it only makes sense to pick one that does not work on commission or derive income from selling you products that they themselves prescribe. This way, you know that whatever is prescribed to you is in the best interest of the health of your eyes, not what’s best for the doctor’s pocketbook. You should also make sure that you go to an eye doctor who will guarantee your prescription. At Master Eye Associates, if your eyes are simply not adjusting to your new glasses or contacts, bring them back within 90 days and their eye doctors will take care of getting you a new product that you are more comfortable using.
Some assume that only people who are very concerned with their appearance need an exam for contacts, this is absolutely not true. While contacts do make you look better, and often younger, they allow you to see better too! Glasses are absolutely wonderful to have, however contacts provide a vision correction that is significantly more natural. Many people tried wearing lenses many years ago and were discouraged by the discomfort, but things have changed. In recent years, several companies have started offering silicone-based soft lenses, which allow for a greater amount of oxygen transmission. Some can even be worn continuously for 30 days - they are that comfortable!
What do Doctors Look for in a Contacts Exam?
Eye doctors are doing a lot more than simply checking your prescription during a contacts exam. They are also examining the shape of your eyes to determine which lenses will fit and offer the highest level of comfort. While Acuvue Oasys may feel divine to one person, someone else may need bifocal contacts. Make sure that you choose an eye doctor who guarantees your prescription and comfort fit, to ensure that you will be happy with your contacts.
